04/20/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Toronto Blue Jays begin a seven-game road stretch against fellow American League East teams with tonight's opener of a three- game series against the surging Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.
Baltimore comes in having won five of its last six contests and just took two of three games over host Tampa Bay earlier this week. In Wednesday's rubber match, Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to help the Orioles to a 6-4 victory.
Jon Knott had two hits and an RBI for Baltimore, while Nick Markakis smacked a solo home run in the win. Kevin Millar snapped a 3-3 tie with a fifth-inning double.
Erik Bedard (3-1) pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts, to win his third consecutive start. Chris Ray notched his fifth save of the season by striking out the side in the ninth.
The Orioles will be starting a seven-game homestand tonight and begin the residency with Daniel Cabrera on the mound. The talented right-hander is 1-1 with a 3.66 earned run average through his first three starts of 2007 and is coming off a no-decision against Kansas City last Saturday.
Cabrera went just five innings versus the Royals and gave up four runs -- three earned -- and seven hits while striking out five. He was much sharper over his previous outing, when he yielded just two runs on seven hits and walked none over 7 2/3 innings to beat Detroit on April 9.
The 25-year-old will be making his 12th career start against Toronto and is 4-5 with a 4.16 ERA lifetime against the Jays. Cabrera was outstanding when facing the Blue Jays last season, posting a 3-1 record with a sparkling 1.33 ERA in four games.
Toronto, which will also play division rivals Boston and New York on this trek, lost the final two tests of a three-game set with the Red Sox at Rogers Centre prior to the series. The Blue Jays coughed up a late two-run lead in Thursday's finale, as Boston rallied for two runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to come through with a 5-3 victory.
Manny Ramirez tied the contest with a two-run homer off Toronto reliever Shaun Marcum (1-1) in the eighth, while Alex Cora's RBI triple in the ninth put the Red Sox in front.
Blue Jays starter Roy Halladay was in line for the win when he departed with one out in the eighth. The ace righty was charged with two runs on six hits over 7 1/3 innings.
Alex Rios homered and Vernon Wells had two hits and an RBI for Toronto, which also received a solo home run from Frank Thomas.
A.J. Burnett hopes to improve on a mediocre last start when he gets the call for the Blue Jays tonight. The oft-injured right-hander was tagged for four runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in a no decision last Saturday against Detroit, five days after he threw 6 2/3 outstanding frames to defeat Kansas City.
Burnett held the Royals to a run and three hits while fanning five to pick up his only victory of 2007.
The 30-year-old has faced Baltimore only once previously. That start came with the Florida Marlins back in 2001, when Burnett held the O's to three runs over 7 2/3 innings to earn a win. This will be his first appearance at Camden Yards.
Toronto finished 11-8 against Baltimore in 2006, with the Orioles taking five of the nine meetings at home.

NFL betting action is back! At MySportsbook, all of the pro football odds are posted for the NFC North. Check out how we see the four teams in this cloudy division stacking up this year in the chase for the playoffs! Green Bay Packers (+125) - With QB Aaron Rodgers leading the offense and DC Dom Capers working his magic on defense, the Packers are a real force to be reckoned with.
Virtually nothing changed on this offense for Green Bay from last year to this year, save for the addition of rookie OT Brian Bulaga to the bunch. Expect more huge numbers from the Pack, and a relatively favorable schedule should get them over the hump and into the playoffs once again this season. My NFL Betting Predictions: 11-5, 1st place in NFC North Minnesota Vikings (+130) - There are still too many unknowns about the Vikes this year. There is a huge difference between QB Brett Favre and either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels under center. Plus, is Favre comes back, is he really going to be able to keep his pick total under double digits again? Depth at running back looked like it might have been an issue with RB Chester Taylor fleeing in free agency, but drafting RB Toby Gerhart should pick up the difference. This defense is still suitable, but with a first place schedule, making the playoffs is going to be very tough regardless of whether #4 comes back or not.

Chicago Bears (+350) - The Bears are probably a bit of an overhyped team once again this year. No, we don't think it is plausible for QB Jay Cutler to have as bad of a season as he did last year, and we do think the additions of RB Chester Taylor and DE Julius Peppers are going to help immensely, but there's still something in the water in the Windy City that we aren't so sure about. Maybe Chicago finds its way to .500... but then again, maybe it doesn't. If Favre comes back, Cutler might be the worst quarterback in this division this year.
Detroit Lions (+1500) - The Lions are probably once again going to be the whipping boys for the rest of the teams in the NFC North, but they aren't just going to roll over and die once again. There is some real talent amassing on this team offensively, as the combination of QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best, WR Calvin Johnson, and TE Brandon Pettigrew should put a bunch of points on the board if the offensive line can even remotely hold up. The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City.
The Patriots will make NFL betting fans a lot of money this season, get in early and enjoy the cash.
